When it comes to becoming a licensed California contractor, we often see firsthand the amazing way some people overcome just about anything to achieve their dreams. In the 100,000+ graduates we have had, there have been a number who have crawled their way up from nothing, arrived from distant corners of the world, and beaten perceived disabilities or shortcomings to become successful business owners.
On the other hand, though, we also see a lot of people who hold off on trying to reach their dreams because of misconceptions they are holding on to. In fact, there are probably thousands of construction professionals who could be enjoying more freedom and income right now, if only they knew there was no reason to wait.
To give you a sense of what kinds of false limitations we are talking about, here are five things you don’t need to become a licensed California contractor:
1. Lots of money. You’ve probably already heard that a good education is the best investment you can ever make. That’s certainly true, but the investment doesn’t have to be as large as you might think. With financial aid and flexible payment plans available, we have options for any student who is serious about becoming a licensed contractor.
2. A wide-open schedule. Just as you don’t have to be rich to attend our school, you don’t have to have a lot of hours to devote to studying for your licensed contractor exam, either. In fact, with classroom, self-study, and crash courses as options, you can be sure we have a choice that fits your budget and time requirements.
3. Extensive computer skills. Some potential students are scared by the computerized testing system that the state board uses. You shouldn’t be. If you were able to navigate to this page, you have more than enough computer knowledge to take your licensed contractor exam. Plus, CSLS has computers set up just like the ones you’ll use on testing day, so you can get familiar with the technology beforehand.
4. Perfect English-speaking skills. Many of our students come from other countries or households where English isn’t the primary language. Talk to one of our admissions counselors and learn about what we can do for students who have picked up English as a second language.
5. A great academic track record. You might be surprised to know some of our most successful graduates didn’t do well in school before coming to us. As long as you have a love of your trade and a willingness to learn, we can help you take the next step.
Given the huge world of opportunities that are out there waiting for you once you pass your licensed contractor exam, why let a nonexistent problem hold you back? Call CSLS today or visit this page now to see a list of our upcoming courses and programs.
Remember, there’s never been a better time to take the next step and reach your dreams!
