The Two Worst Excuses for Avoiding CSLS

At CSLS, our admissions team speaks to dozens of construction professionals every week. All of them want to become licensed contractors in California, but only some take the next step.

Sometimes, students don’t move forward because they don’t meet the state requirements to become a contractor yet, or because they have legitimate emergencies that prevent them from preparing for their contractors exam. More often, though, we hear one of the two worst excuses for avoiding CSLS.

Here they are, along with the realities behind them…

#1 “I Don’t Have the Time to Become a Licensed Contractor.”

The big problem with this excuse is that most people do have the time, if only they are willing to give up something else in their life (like a couple hours of TV, video games, etc.). And so, they’re usually using a lack of time as an excuse because they aren’t really committed enough (yet) to take the next step.

And if you really don’t have the time right now, doesn’t it make sense to plan ahead for the future? Otherwise, once your current crisis or deadline has passed, you might find you are still too busy because you haven’t made your education a priority.

#2 “I’m Not Sure If I Have the Money to Attend CSLS.”

Again, a lack of money to go to school seems like a valid concern. However, with our numerous financial aid packages, many students attend CSLS while paying virtually nothing out of pocket. And, if you’re running a bit short of money, going back to school to earn your contractors license could be your best career move… and a way to open yourself up to future earnings.

We know that deciding to go back to school to become a licensed California contractor is a big step, and that students do have issues in their lives that can prevent them from taking courses with us as soon as they would like. But if you’ve been putting off the next step in your career for the wrong reasons, now is the perfect time to get in touch with us and see just how easy it is.

Our admissions team is always ready to help you find the course and financial plan that are right for you so you can achieve your dream of passing your California licensed contractors exam.
