At CSLS, we get the opportunity to work with construction professionals of virtually every age, at every experience level, and from just about every different background you could come from. We hear the good and the bad, see the highs and lows. And, throughout all of it, we still consider construction to be one of the greatest career choices you can make, regardless of whether you’re just starting out or are looking to transition into something new.
Why work in construction and eventually become a licensed California contractor? Here are just a few of the reasons we like:
Construction is often in high demand. Regardless of what’s going on in the economy, there are still new commercial buildings being raised, homes being renovated, and areas being redeveloped all the time. Real estate, property development, and construction go hand-in-hand… and all are fairly stable fields to work in that can offer lots of job security.
There are lots of different specialties within the construction field. Although lots of people outside the industry tend to think of “construction” as one big type of business, the reality is that there are some individuals and businesses who work with concrete, others who deal with metal and electricity, those who study blueprints and others who knock down walls – not to mention lots of people who do all of these jobs and a lot more. Whatever it is you like to do, you can probably find the right fit in the construction industry.
When you work in construction, you don’t have to spend as much time behind a desk. This is one of the biggest benefits, and one that’s hard to overstate. If you don’t enjoy sitting behind a desk, or staring at a computer screen, being out in the sunshine and working next to other men and women might be just what you need. Construction can give you that.
As a licensed California contractor, you can choose your own career path. Obviously, the men and women who come to CSLS do so because they want to be self-employed construction professionals in California, and enjoy all the accompanying lifestyle benefits that come with that decision. There’s no reason to let someone else decide what direction your career should take when you can forge your own path.
For all of these reasons, construction makes a great industry to work in. Why not check out our list of CSLS courses – available online and in-class – to see which one might be right for you?
